To find out about our school rules and policies please peruse the following documents.

Our Parent Handbook (PDF, 2927KB) provides a detailed overview of day to day school policies and procedures.

Our school expectations (PDF, 1.1MB) are Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be an Active Learner.

Exemption from compulsory schooling

An exemption (DOCX, 265KB) from compulsory schooling or the compulsory participation phase is available when a child or a young person cannot attend or it would be unreasonable in all the circumstances for them to attend school or participate in an eligible option for a period of more than 10 consecutive school days. Parents should complete the Application for Exemption Form (DOC, 145KB) for approval by the principal.

Refund Policy

As the school budget cannot meet any shortfalls in funding for an extra-curricular activity due to the subsequent non-participation of a student who had previously indicated attendance of the activity, fees already paid for an extra-curricular activity may be refunded in full or in part or not at all, having regard to the associated expenses incurred and the circumstances of the non-participation.

E-Learning @ Ferny (ELF)

ELF (E-Learning @ Ferny) is an integral part of the eLearning agenda that our school has established. Our school values the importance of being digitally connected with our community. We want to offer our students the best possible learning experiences with digital devices. The school staff see the benefits of increased individual access to an iPad, as having the potential of greater student engagement, creativity and learning outcomes. To learn more about this, refer top the ELF iPad Policy (PDF, 1MB).

If you cannot download the document/s linked from this page, please contact us and we will provide a copy via the school office.

Sun Safety Policy

Ferny Hills State School is a Sun Safe School.  Our school aims to educate our students about being sun safe in order to develop important, life-long, healthy habits, and acknowledges the important role adults play during and outside school hours to reinforce sun safety with children and young people.  Our Sun Safe Policy can be accessed here.
