Welcome to the Ferny Hills State School website. We aim to provide an extensive range of information that will be of interest to both new and existing families. Our school provides a warm and welcoming environment with a particular focus on providing students with the opportunity to be the best they can be in all areas of their development. Active Minds Active Bodies Celebrating the Ferny Way Academically we have a commitment to individual growth in all areas of the curriculum with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy outcomes. Socially and emotionally we offer a range of support services that encourage students to be aware of the needs of themselves and others in our school. We have high expectations of every student who attends Ferny Hills and provide opportunities for them to contribute to, and be proud of, our school community. The physical development of our students is very important and as a result we offer a whole school approach to fitness and well being with access to sport, perceptual motor programs, gym sessions and structured physical education. Our staff are dedicated and skilled with a passion for children and their learning. They offer a range of extra curricula opportunities both within and outside school. We strive to model the values our school stands for; Commitment, Respect, Honesty, Care, Compassion, Cooperation and Responsibility Our community is very supportive of Ferny Hills S.S. and contributes in many ways to the effective operation of our school. Parents can be seen in many classrooms, working as part of the P and C, volunteering in our tucksop and in general conversation with staff. We have a wonderful Outside School Hours Care facility that provides both before and after school care to many of our students.
